Our Two Cents

Well, I’ll have to say I was a bit skeptical when I saw this new glove on our list of review items. A full gauntlet glove from Speed and Strength, for under $100? Producing passable quality in the sub-$100 range is pretty hard to do. Well, I’ll have to say that I’m pretty impressed after looking these over thoroughly. The leather used feels and looks like the same high quality leather you’d find in many medium priced gloves. The overall build quality is good too. The fingers of the glove are externally stitched which means they are super comfortable right out of the package (no seams turned to the inside of the fingers to bug you). On the knuckles there are four large molded plastic protectors which have built in venting (I checked and some air does pass through—not fake!). Your wrist is secured in the glove with a Velcro-close strap on the underside and that is covered by a protective leather piece too. The gauntlet is highly adjustable with a two-way Velcro-close arrangement. About the only cheesy aspect to the gloves is the molded rubber pieces on the gauntlet which are largely cosmetic (but keep that price in mind!). These gloves are a great value and are of reasonable quality for street use or entry-level track use.
