Sizing Information

Speed and Strength gloves generally fit like most other American brands like FirstGear, Tour Master, Joe Rocket, etc, but this particular model seems to fit just a touch smaller… not so much I’d advise you to buy a size bigger than normal, but enough to say that if you are between sizes, choose the larger.

We often caution about Alpinestars gloves and other European brands as running on the small side and these are about like those by my estimation, so if you have experience with fit in Alpinestars, go by what you’ve worn in that brand.

Our Two Cents

These Chain Reaction gloves are sort of interesting and unlike most other gloves we review. Most of the glove is lightweight textile fabric and the palm side is leather. The gloves have a waterproof/breathable liner in between the outer leather/textile and the inner liner so they’ll keep water out. There is even a little gaiter arrangement at the end of the cuff to help seal out water and wind. Also, for foul weather, there is a shield wiper on the left thumb that looks like it would come in handy.

What I find striking is the very light weight of the whole combination. And with the snug fit, they feel different than most waterproof gloves on the hand. The backs of the knuckles have some substantial molded knuckle protection and the palm is leather of course which is a good material for crash abrasion protection, but the balance of the gloves doesn’t have a lot of protective materials. And don’t get me wrong, not every glove has to have all sorts of armor bits and pieces, and these, I think would certainly be ideal for all sorts of riding… urban, scooter, short commuting… something like that. They’ll be light and easy to put on and take off and will fold up easily in any small space. No insulation here though, so buy these for “mild” temps, but not cold weather.

I’m looking at the plainest of the bunch… the black/grey color, and it is nice to see some other, more sporty colors being offered as well. :: Paul, 11-13-14
