Sizing Information

These jackets are sold by chest size. We tried these jackets on our test subjects and got a great fit if you like a looser fit. Most cruiser styles are cut to fit a bit loose, but this one is a bit bigger than the other 2014 leather jackets by River Road. To see how they fit on our Fit Check mannequins, Huey and Dewey, take the “View Larger Images” link above. Huey is a Medium and wears a 42 coat and Dewey is an XL and wears a 46 coat, and we’ve got them wearing a 42 and 46. I

So here is my advice: If you are between sizes, then I’d advise you order the smaller, but otherwise order the size you normally wear. The overall cut of these jackets is only slightly tapered so waist/belly size shouldn’t be a concern for most. We’ve listed some estimated max belly sizes in the chart below to help with that. If you have a bit of a belly, then just make sure that your belly size does not exceed the max belly size of the jacket you are choosing.

Chest/Jacket Size Max Waist/Belly
40 36
42 38
44 40
46 42
48 44
50 46
52 48
54 50

Our Two Cents

The new Twin Iron jacket is the third new leather style I’m reviewing for the 2014 season by River Road. We have added a total of four new styles to the site, and I’m finding they all are functionally very much the same, but they vary by the styling, color and texture of the leather. The Twin Iron is a combination of thick/soft black leather with cream leather accents which is a very “vintage” style. The cream leather has been made to appear a bit dirty, soiled, whatever as if you’ve used the jacket for years. I think if you click through and view our close-up photo gallery, you’ll be able to see this. These River Road styles are great for the bike, but also for casual wear. For climate control on the bike, this jacket includes zippered venting… on the upper shoulder and in the rear. And for cooler weather, you can close those zippers and utilize the removable full-sleeve thermal liner. The liner is “mid weight” and should provide good insulation and then of course you can layer with other clothing from there. Also, you get the usual storage pockets most motorcyclists like… hand warmer pockets, a wallet pocket inside and a couple storage pockets in the liner. The jacket does not come with armor, nor are there any provisions for adding it. The thing I like most about these jackets is the look and styling of the leather. Overall, I really like this style for the “retro” looks and the quality of the leather. :: Paul, 11-25-13
