Sizing Information

These jackets are sold by chest size. Choose the size that corresponds with your chest measurement (or suit coat size if you know it). We tried these jackets on our test subjects and got a great fit. The overall cut of these jackets is only slightly tapered so waist/belly size shouldn’t be a concern for most. We’ve listed some estimated max belly sizes in the chart below to help with that. If you have a bit of a belly, then just make sure that your belly size does not exceed the max belly size of the jacket you are choosing.

Our Two Cents

I’m reviewing two new jackets today for the 2014 season… the Petro Distressed Jacket and the Drifter Jacket. Both jackets are VERY similar so I’ll combine my comments on both jackets in to one review. I like these styles very much. For many street cruiser riders, the traditional sport jackets just don’t feel right, and so River Road makes styles like this to fit your style of riding and the styling works great for casual, non-motorcycle use as well. For the bike, this jacket includes some pretty extensive zippered venting… on the upper shoulder and in the rear, and then there is also a two way zipper on each sleeve end. The zip can be opened from the top down to create a zippered vent to squirt some air flow up your sleeve. And for cooler weather, you can close those zippers and utilize the removable full-sleeve thermal liner. The liner is “mid weight” and should provide good insulation and then of course you can layer with other clothing from there. Also, you get the usual storage pockets most motorcyclists like… hand warmer pockets, a wallet pocket inside and a couple storage pockets in the liner. The jacket does not come with armor, nor are there any provisions for adding it. The thing I like most about these jackets is the look and styling of the leather. Both jackets have been expertly “aged” to make them look like they’ve been a favorite jacket for many years. And they are soft and comfortable too. The Petro has slightly more of a “slick” finish leather and is darker. The Drifter is a bit lighter in color and has more of a “soft” finish to it. Just take the link above to see some good close-up photos of the jacket and its features. You’ll be able to see these details about the styling for yourself. The fit and functionality of both styles is identical. Overall, I really like these jackets. I’ve had the Petro in my office for a few days now trying to decide whether it needs to go back into stock or into my own closet! :: Paul, 11-15-13
