Sizing Information

We checked out the size of these jackets on our Fit Check mannequins Laverne (who is a size 6) and Shirley (who is a 12).. We had a size Small for Laverne and a size Large on Shirley, and both fit well. So I conclude the size chart offered by River Road is pretty accurate. You can use your measurements to pick a size, or use your dress size. Hopefully both will correspond to the same size. If anything, the two jackets fit a bit loose, but the mannequins only had a light tee shirt underneath, so if you are somewhere between sizes in the chart, I’d recommend the smaller of the two.

Our Two Cents

I’m liking the new Drifter jacket for women for 2014. For many street cruiser riders, the traditional sport jackets just don’t feel right, and so River Road makes styles like this to fit your style of riding and the styling works great for casual, non-motorcycle use as well. For the bike, this jacket includes some pretty extensive zippered venting… on the upper shoulder and in the rear, and then there is also a two way zipper on each sleeve end. The zip can be opened from the top down to create a zippered vent to squirt some air flow up your sleeve. And for cooler weather, you can close those zippers and utilize the removable full-sleeve thermal liner. The liner is “mid weight” and should provide good insulation and then of course you can layer with other clothing from there. Also, you get the usual storage pockets most motorcyclists like… hand warmer pockets, a wallet pocket inside and a couple storage pockets in the liner. The jacket does not come with armor, nor are there any provisions for adding it. As for looks and texture, this jacket is “aged” so it will look like this jacket has been a favorite for many years. And the leather is soft and comfortable too. The Drifter has a more “soft” finish to it. Just take the link above to see some good close-up photos of the jacket and its features. You’ll be able to see these details about the styling for yourself. Overall, I really like this new style… and if you are into matching styles for men, that is available too. :: Paul, 11-25-13
