Sizing Information

The Flatbush Vintage jackets are offered in European sizes. The normal formula to convert a European size to a US size is to subtract 10 from the European size to get the approx US chest size, and that works pretty well for this style. The smaller sizes are spot on with this formula and the larger jackets are just a tad under.

I’d advise that you measure your chest and belly to best choose a size. Use the chart I put together below to choose a size that will be big enough for both your chest and belly.

The jackets are cut more casually and so the jacket doesn’t taper from chest to waist as aggressively as a sport/race jacket. I did note that the arm sizes are a bit snug through the bicep and elbow. Me and Aaron here in the office both have average builds and he didn’t find the arms to be unusually snug in his size range (smaller), but I found them to be more snug than most. Therefore, I wouldn’t recommend this style for men with thick or muscular arms. Those with an average to skinny build will like these jackets the best.

Jacket Size Max Chest Max Belly/Waist
46 36 34
48 38 34
50 40 35
52 42 38
54 43 39
56 45 41
58 47 42

Our Two Cents

We didn’t carry the Flatbush Vintage jacket when it was first introduced. I liked the looks of it, but thought we might have a hard time selling them at the lofty, full MSRP price. But when this model went on closeout, I thought it was time to snag them so I could offer them at a much more affordable price. And although we don’t have any prior customer recommendations to offer, I’d encourage you to visit Revzilla who displays 11 positive reviews.

The leather on these jackets is just beautiful… it is thick and has a very rich finish. The brown color particularly has a vintage look. I’d encourage you to view our photo gallery and look at some pictures we took of the actual jackets. They look so much better than the factory photos (which to me look rather boring and have a weird “inflated” look to them).

These jackets aren’t packed with features… they are more for style and protection. The leather is thick and will protect well in a fall and the jackets include Sas-Tec CE protectors in the shoulders and elbows. And you can add a back protector if you like (see size recommendations below).

Like I said, the feature list is short… you get the usual number of zippered pockets, a zip connector to pants (or the snap close loop to attach to your belt). The only size adjustment is in the waist…. there are a couple snaps to snug the waist by about 2 inches if you are so lucky to be that trim. The liner is satin. There are no provisions for venting, and for heaven’s sake, don’t wear this in the rain!

I think you’ll really enjoy this jacket for its good looks and excellent quality. And at this price, it’s a bargain! :: Paul, 01-01-17

Add a Back Protector: This jacket is made with a pocket to accept a Seesoft CE Level 2 Back Protector Insert type RV (RV refers to the shape). For sizes 46 or 48, choose size 3; for 50 thru 54, choose size 4 and for sizes 56 and 58 choose size 5.
