Our Two Cents

The Powershift II jacket comes as close to being the “everything” textile/mesh jacket that I’ve ever seen. The styling is very neutral, so it will appeal to nearly any type of rider. The jacket has a pretty neat climate control system. In its “normal” state, it functions just like any other full textile jacket. The textile outer shell works well to provide abrasion protection and block the wind. The outer shell also has zippered vents on the sides and back to admit some air in mild to warmer weather. When things heat up, the jacket is constructed so that a large portion of the textile shell on the torso and arms can be zipped off to expose full mesh parts. With the panels removed this jacket will function very well as a full mesh jacket. If that weren’t enough, the jacket also comes with Joe Rocket’s Dry Tech liner. The liner is worn under the jacket to provide a wind break (while the jacket is in the full mesh mode), and to provide a waterproof barrier for use in wet weather. Keep in mind that the dry tech liner will keep your body dry in the rain, but the jacket of course gets wet (the jacket itself is not waterproof). For crash protection, you get CE protectors in the shoulders and elbows and a dual density back protector. Overall, I consider this jacket to be a very good versatile design that will be a good choice for those who want a simple functional jacket that will work well in a variety of weather conditions.
