Our Two Cents

The Speedmaster 5.0 jacket is a perforated sport cut jacket for the aggressive street or amateur track rider. This model has traditionally been Joe Rocket’s best. The 5.0 version seems to have every protective feature you’d find in a very good sport jacket along with some great styling. This jacket is cut for comfort in the tucked riding position, and the adjustable waist and sleeves give the jacket a custom feel (not always the case in sport cut jackets.) The perforated torso and mesh panels in the sleeves make it comfortable for warmer weather. And for cooler weather, it also includes a removable full-sleeve windproof liner. The liner will effectively block air flow through the front perforated areas and the mesh sleeve panels. The armor in this jacket is better than most I have seen. The shoulders and elbows are protected with removable CE approved armor, and the elbow armor extends down the arm toward the wrist for extra coverage. The shoulder armor piece is a standard molded rubber type and is backed up by titanium plates (which you can see on the exterior of the jacket). The elbow armor is a more substantial rubber/hard plastic type which really feels like it would do a good job. The back protector is much better than most foam padding I’ve seen and should offer some great impact protection. The foam material used is a bit more dense than most and it is even shaped like a human back (slight indention down the spine). The jacket comes with both a full circumference zipper and a short rear zipper so it would be compatible with just about every model of Joe Rocket pants (those with zippers anyway). If you zip this jacket to a pair of leather sport pants, you’d have a very nice, track-ready 2pc suit. I've had this jacket for over a year now. It's awesome! I've had lots of compliments about it. My only (very small, almost inconsequential) compliant is that it only has one pocket.

Was a little hesitant when I first bought the Joe Rocket SpeedMaster 5.0 jacket because it was pretty expensive, lemme just say I have no regrets. Not only did I get an endless amount of compliments but I took a spill through a corner and went sli... (Read more...)
