Our friends at Web Bike World have completed a VERY comprehensive review of these pants. Check it out here. Rick had some positive and negative things to say, but keep in mind he was evaluating these pants when they cost $300. I would bet his conclusions would be different at this price!

Sizing Information

We checked several of these against Joe Rocket’s sizing chart and found them to be right where the chart said they should be in the waist, and just an inch or so longer in the inseam.

For those with a belly: These pants sit higher than the waistline, which will make a huge difference in getting the right fit. We would recommend choosing a pair with a “waist size” that will fit your belly. The waist in these pants has no stretch, but it does have Velcro belts which can tighten up about 4 inches out of the waist size, so if they are a little big you can always tighten them up.

Our Two Cents

Here is a super deal you’ll find only at MotorcycleGear.com. We bought the entire remaining inventory of these pants from our distributor at a fraction of the normal price. The catch? Well, it’s a great pair of pants and it was originally advertised as a “waterproof” design, but in reality it is best described as “water-resistant”. It’s a common situation with motorcycle apparel of all brands and very few designs are actually waterproof, but this was to be Joe Rocket’s “premier” textile gear and rather than having to back pedal on the issue, they decided to just sell them to me at a really great price and explain the situation. Our previous product comments:The Dry Tech Nano pants from Joe Rocket are an excellent pair of textile riding pants that offer a lot of features that serious riders will appreciate. You can tell that Joe Rocket put a lot of thought into the design of these pants. The most obvious feature that sets these pants apart is the removable suspenders. While you might think they look funny, the comfort they provide while keeping the pants securely in place is well worth it. With the suspenders, no more constant adjusting to eliminate that gap between your jacket and pants! Of course if you don’t find this feature particularly helpful (or attractive), the suspenders can be removed. The zippers on the fly, the pockets, and the full length leg zippers are all waterproof water resistant. The Dry Tech™ shell lining will keep you dry inside these pants will resist water from coming in, but they will still be breathable. For cooler weather, there is a very nice insulated liner that zips in. The liner also has the full length leg zippers for easy on/off, and it also has an elastic cuff to help keep it from riding up your leg. The lower legs of these pants feature a checkered pattern of reflective material, to keep you visible at night. (Note: The factory pictures show some reflective material just below the knees, this was NOT on the pants that we received, so please don’t return these pants because they are missing this reflective material). The inner part of the lower leg is covered by a heat resistant material that won’t melt easily if accidental contact with the pipes or other hot parts occurs. These pants offer a pretty wide range of adjustment for sizing too. There are two Velcro belts which can be used to take up to about 4 inches out of the waist, and Velcro thigh adjustment to help keep them tight on the legs. The lower back is made of a stretch “accordion” type panel which will help flexibility as well. The CE approved armor for the knees can be placed in two different pockets, to accommodate different leg lengths. Besides the knee armor, there are also substantial foam pads to protect the hips. Joe Rocket also lists padding for the tailbone in their catalog – but we didn’t see any. These pants will be great for the touring or adventure rider that rides through any conditions for long periods of time. Take a look at our studio pictures of these pants by clicking the link above.

I bought the Joe rocket Dry Tech Nano because I wanted a good quality jacket and pants. The order was shipped to BC Canada very quickly and the Jacket and pant fit great. I know that this gear is not 100% water proof, but I do not ride in the rain... (Read more...)

Tested these out this morning on my 43 mile commute in 38 degree temps. They were great, I stayed very warm the whole way to work and I feel like they will still keep me warm in colder temps. They are the perfect size to fit over my jeans, the thermal liner can be a pain to get on and off over boots unless you unzip the leg all the way, but that is my only complaint. (Read more...)
