Sizing Information

We tried the size Medium in this jacket on Huey and we put an XL jacket on Dewey. These are the sizes they normally wear and both fit great. My advice would be to wear the size you normally wear in men’s clothing. The overall fit of this style jacket is trim and sporty, so if you are between sizes, I’d recommend you choose the larger.

Note: For some dumb reason, Icon publishes a different chart for the “standard” overlord” which lists smaller chest sizes for each alpha size. We’ve got comments on that chart on those product pages. With the introduction of the Type 1 they seem to have revised the chart for the better.

Size Max Chest
Small 36-38
Medium 38-40
Large 42-44
XL 44-46
XXL 46-48
XXXL 48-50
XXXXL 52-54

Our Two Cents

Another version of the standard Overlord introduced in late 2011, the Type 1 Textile Jacket takes the chassis of the original Overlord and adds sublimated graphics and contrasting badges. Also there are molded external protectors on the shoulders, elbows and back. The Icon letters on the chest are also molded rubber with mesh inserts which look cool. Here are our comments on the “regular” Overlord which applies to this version also: The Icon Overlord Textile jacket is a basic design at first glance. There aren’t a whole lot of zippers and vents and it doesn’t have pockets all over it, but if you look closely, you’ll see that it’s a versatile jacket that should work well for a wide variety of riders. The Overlord is made of a combination of materials to create a jacket that is very comfortable. There aren’t any size adjustments on this jacket, but it should still fit a variety of body types thanks to the stretch fabric that is used down the sides of the torso and at the inner arms. There are also stretch panels behind the elbows and shoulders, which allow for good freedom of movement while on and off the bike. For warmer weather rides, there are mesh panels on the upper chest, as well as a large mesh area on the back of the jacket to let hot air escape. When things cool off you can zip in the vest type insulated liner to keep you comfortable. There isn’t a way to stop air from coming in those mesh panels though, so this jacket is best suited for cool to hot climates. For protection, there are CE impact protectors in the shoulders and elbows, and a dual density foam back pad, which can be upgraded to a CE Stryker back protector (see below). We have taken several pictures of this jacket in our studio, so be sure to click the “View Larger Images” link above. :: Paul, 11-06-11
