Our Two Cents

About this sale and warranty: Held gloves (and other apparel products) are made by Held GmbH in Germany and have been distributed in the US for the last 10 years or so by Held USA, which is a small “mom and pop” out of North Carolina. In mid-December, Held USA announced they were quitting business. And at that time, we bought their remaining inventory of Held gloves in the US as a closeout/liquidation. Other retailers may also have some gloves in their stock as well but there has not yet been a new distributor established and therefore no more stock is currently available. We are hoping for the announcement of a new US distributor because we think they are a fine product linet, our customers enjoy them and we experience very few warranty issues. And speaking of warranty, since there is currently no US distributor to inspect and repair/replace gloves as a result of a warranty claim, there is no way for consumers to exercise a warranty claim. We will of course still accept returns of new/unused gloves within 30 days of your order (just like any other product), but we will not offer any warranty whatsoever on any glove that has been used or not returned during that time frame. We are hopeful a new distributor will be announced and they will provide normal warranty coverage, but right now, we can’t tell you when or if that will happen.

About this product: Here is a brand new model from Held that a lot of you will really like. This glove is a complement really to the Air n Dry glove by Held. The unique thing about both these gloves is the two chamber design of the glove. If you take the “View Larger Images” link above you’ll see a couple good shots of this. There is an inner divider built into the glove and you can choose which “chamber” to put your hand in. If you put your hand into the “Dry” chamber your hand is surrounded by Gore-Tex and the palm of your hand is on the glove’s palm leather with no insulation in between. If you put your hand in the “Warm” chamber, you are still surrounded by Gore-Tex and now you have insulation on the backside AND the front side of your hand. So that is the “magic” of this design. For colder and/or wet weather, you can choose to have insulation all around just like most dedicated/insulated gloves, but when it is not as cold out and/or if you have heated grips, you can choose to wear the glove with insulation only on the backside of your hand and with no insulation on the palm side. In this position, you’ll have improved feel for the controls and less insulation to prevent the flow of heat into your hands from heated grips. As I said, it is a lot like the Air n Dry, but WITH insulation for cold weather. I bet there are going to be a lot of you that will enjoy having a pair of gloves like this… street riders, commuters, adventure riders, etc. I won’t deny that it is a lot of money, but the quality of Held and the increased usefulness are definitely advantages over other cold weather gloves. And if you compare these to other cold weather gloves you’ll notice they have a lot more protection than many. There is a substantial molded protector over the knuckles and padded protectors on the heel of the hand, the outside of the pinky and on the side of gauntlet. The gloves are a combination of leather and fabric (use of the fabric keeps the weight and bulk down) and the insides of the “Warm” chamber are lined with a black, cushy faux fur type material that feels great! :: Paul, 09-06-13
