Sizing Information

Held gloves are sold in glove sizes rather than the normal “alpha” sizes you are used to in the US. But fear not, we offer a comprehensive guide to choosing a Held glove size for you:

Held Glove Sizing

I find Held gloves to be very consistent for fit from one model to the next and these are no exception. Choose the size you wear in Held, or use the sizing advice above to choose.

Our Two Cents

I’ll have to say, I’ve not ever tried on a glove quite like this before. Many elements are familiar such as the perforated kangaroo palm material and the leather covered hard plastic knuckle armor. The different part is the Suprotect® armor material used on the back of the hand for crash impact protection. There is a layer of this material from the end of the cuff to the tips of the fingers and the thumb. So when you slip your hand into the glove, the ENTIRE back side of your hand is enveloped by the armor material. And for those of you who are not familiar with the material, it is a special foam… reminds me of temperfoam mattress material…. very compliant and soft and dense, but this material has a unique property in that it gets momentarily hard when impacted. Variants of this material have been used for years, most notably in FirstGear jackets and pants for several years. Its ability to remain completely pliable until impacted is what makes it so ideal for motorcycle armor to give a good fit and be comfortable.

I’m not saying I don’t like the setup… it’s just, well, different. The palm side of the glove is kangaroo which is the thinnest and most supple leather you can get, and this kangaroo is perforated as well, so it feels so… “not even there”, and then the back of the hand is completely shrouded in this super soft, thick dense foam. So like I said, it’s just different.

Anyway, aside from all that, the gloves have the other usual features like the super-abrasion resistant pad in the heel of the hand, a positive Velcro closure at the wrist and the adjustable cuff. And finally, I see the left index finger has the built in visor wiper. The longer I have these on, the more I like them! :: Paul, 05-13-16
