Sizing Information

These pants are slightly oversized in the waist to allow you to wear them over shorts or light clothing, so we recommend you buy the size you would normally wear in jeans or slacks. If you plan to wear them over heavy clothing or you are between sizes you’d want to choose the larger size. Leg lengths are extra-long (approx. 36”) to accommodate taller riders, but the design allows you to cut the pant legs to an appropriate length, so inseam should not be a problem.

Our Two Cents

FirstGear’s Sport Touring Overpants are perfect for touring riders and commuters that want the protection of leather but want to wear street clothes underneath. These pants look much like jeans, but they have full-length side zippers down the outside seam of each leg which allows you to put them on and take them off much like chaps without having to find a place to change clothes. The long side zipper is “two way” meaning it will zip up from the bottom or down from the top. Zipping down part way from the top allows you to reach into your pants pockets easily without taking off the over pants—a very handy feature. The pants come with memory foam armor in the knees (removable if you don’t want it). The armor mounts in the pants on strips of Velcro that make it possible to position the armor to accommodate different inseams, so not only can you trim the pants to the proper length, but you can also customize the position of the armor. Take the “View Larger Pictures” link above to see these features.
