Sizing Information
Select a pant size based upon a US ladies dress size. These pants are made to be worn over street clothing, and they are oversized just a bit (no need to order larger than usual). You can refer to First Gear’s sizing chart for more sizing information.
Our Two Cents
One of FirstGear’s most versatile pants is now even better for 2011. The TPG (Technical Performance Gear) Escape pants are a high quality textile pant that offer excellent climate control features as well as excellent protection. The outer shell of the TPG Escape pants is fully waterproof, and YKK waterproof zippers are used throughout. The leg openings feature an elastic leg gaiter that will prevent wind and water from entering the bottom of the pants. A very unique feature of these pants is the new insulated pants liner that is included. Not only is the liner a nice, high quality insulated liner, it also functions as a standalone pant, complete with waist adjustment and two front pockets. This feature is especially handy when packing for extended trips, one less pair of pants to bring! For warmer weather, this liner can be removed and two zippered thigh vents can be opened for ventilation. These vents should help cool things down, just keep in mind that the shell of these pants is waterproof (read: can be a bit warm in hot weather). Two zippered hand warmer pockets and two waterproof cargo pockets offer plenty of storage space, and a jacket connection zipper is included for attachment of compatible jackets. Probably the most advanced feature of the TPG Escape pants is the new d30™ T-5 pro armor that is found at the knees and hips. This high-tech armor is nice and flexible, conforming to your body for comfort while riding, but upon impact it hardens, dispersing the impact over a larger area. Once the impact is over, the material returns to its previous soft and flexible state. In addition to the high-tech armor, Kevlar reinforced fabric is used in the knees.
