Our Two Cents
Here’s a jacket that would be great for those of you who don’t want to be a “rolling billboard” for a particular brand – or if you simply like a simple style jacket. The Verona Jacket has very minimal styling elements to it – single colors and subtle Alpinestars branding. The overall fit and finish of this jacket is quite good, as one would expect from Alpinestars. The Verona utilizes a built in waterproof membrane which is not removable. I’m sure it will do a good job keeping you dry in all but the worst of conditions, but the outer shell of the jacket is likely to take on a lot of water. Also, there is no venting on this jacket, so I would recommend this jacket for cooler parts of the year. There is a fully sleeved insulated liner which will keep you warm, and the neck goes up nice and high, protecting that often exposed area from cold. Although the neck of the jacket is lined with some nice micro-fleece material, we found it to be a bit tight when zipped all the way up – especially in the riding position. Another thing to note about fit is the front of the jacket is constructed from two panels, which keeps the look simple, but it means the jacket bunches up in the front easily. So if your bike puts you in much of a forward leaning position or tuck, you might want to consider a more form fitting jacket. The sleeves are pre-curved for the riding position which is nice, and there is CE approved armor in the shoulders and elbows. There is also a pocket to install the optional RC Back Protector which can be found at the bottom of this page.
