Sizing Information

This boot is sold in US shoe sizes (and many half sizes). Me and our customer service guys tried on our own sizes and found them to be accurate. We estimate the width to be “D” or “Medium”. Just choose the size you normally wear in men’s shoes. The boots have laces that very effectively adjust the tightness over the instep and around the ankle.

Our Two Cents

I’m pleased to see this new Sierra Gore-Tex XCR model added to the Alpinestars lineup. There have been lots of new styles over the last year or two that essentially are fashion footwear and don’t have enough protection to be good for motorcycling, but this style is different. It is a hiker style that would look good either on or off the bike. It has just a bit of badging but not so much that it looks out of place with jeans or pants. Being a hiker style that reaches up over the ankle, it gives enough coverage to provide some crash protection you’d want in case of a fall. The collar of the ankle closure is nicely padded and has a small round armor piece installed on either side of the ankle bone. The laces and top Velcro closure will be enough to keep the boots on your feet in case of a fall as well. The boots are very well reinforced in the toe box and around the heel area. And there is an extra rubber pad where your shifter hits, so there is enough stiffness so they won’t cave when used for shifting. And I also like the sole design… not too thick, but not “racer” thin either. And the sole seems to have ample stiffness to bear weight when standing on the pegs. The sole of the boot is super grippy and has a non-skid pattern built in. We took some good closeups of all this and you can see those by taking the “View Larger Images” link above. We also took a couple “night shots” so you can see how the reflectives work (very well indeed). These boots are not cheap and part of the expense factor is the use of genuine Gore-Tex material to make them waterproof. I don’t think I have to pump you up on the virtues of Gore-Tex. It is a premium product that works better than other “generic” waterproof liners and it’s not cheap… hence the price! The tongue of the boot is attached on each side up to about ankle bone level, so that should be high enough to keep your feet dry as long as you have pants that give good coverage, and surely they are high enough to keep you dry when splashing around in shallow puddles. I think you’ll really like this style and they could easily become your favorite boot to use for all your riding. :: Paul, 04-04-14
