Sizing Information

In trying on these shoes, we found the length to be consistent with sneakers like Nike, which for most people run a bit shorter than dress or street shoes. I’d advise you to pick the size you usually buy in sneakers or shoes and then if you are sometimes between sizes, choose larger. The width might be a shade narrower than a common “D” width shoe… maybe a “C” width in my estimation.

Our Two Cents

These Fastlane waterproof shoes are new for 2014. They are VERY much like the non-waterproof Fastlane boots which have been available for a while now (see the link below). The sales of the “regular” Fastlane boots have been good and so we thought we’d offer this new waterproof version as well. You can see my comments on the original Fastlane boot and those comments are completely valid for this waterproof version as well. I’m still not advocating this boot as being “protective” although I concede they would be somewhat better than sneakers on a bike. And this version adds a measure of waterproofing to keep water from entering around the foot. On a bike, I don’t see how they’d do much good since water will enter over the tops and around the upper laces, but whatever trips your trigger is OK with me :) :: Paul, 10-04-13

Comments on the Fastlane: The Fastlane shoes from Alpinestars are more or less a high top sneaker with some motorcycle specific styling; they also borrow some style from F1 driving shoes. The protective features are pretty minimal, so I couldn’t really recommend them as protective equipment on a bike, but if they suit your purposes then great, we’ll be glad to sell you a pair. The combination of leather, microfiber and mesh is sharp and the protector over the toe is a nice touch. I also like the Velcro strap over the laces, less chance of them hanging up on the pegs. They’re extremely lightweight and should be comfortable for everyday casual use.
