Sizing Information

These boots are sold in US sizes, so choose the size you normally wear in a street shoe. We found the sizes to be reasonably accurate, and the width is about average…. “D” or “Medium”.

Our Two Cents

In preparing to give you some comments about this product I was just reviewing the LARGE number of waterproof street boots we offer. MOST of those boots are the traditional side-zip, all black boot, and many are about in the same price range as this Fastback WP Shoe. Very few WP boots are a shorter “hiker” style like this. I can only assume it is because a shorter style boot will be less likely to keep your feet dry because the height of the boot may be below the bottom of whatever waterproof pants you would be wearing on a bike, and therefore water would enter around the ankle from above. But nevertheless, there are people who don’t want a 12” tall boot and they like the sportier styling of a boot like this. And the limitations on it being waterproof are of secondary importance. Anyway, if that thinking sounds like what you’ve been thinking, then you’ve found your boot! I actually like this style a lot. Alpinestars makes other shoe/boots sort of like this, but this boot feels much more substantial than the others. The upper materials are thick and substantial feeling, but retain a pretty small form factor (they aren’t very bulky). The speed laces are cool…. as in they actually tighten a good ways down the shoe when you pull on them (many don’t). And there is a substantial Velcro-close strap you can use to wrangle in the ends of the laces. The sole is low profile to facilitate easy shifting and the sole has a steel reinforcement so you can bear weight on the pegs and the sole will retain its shape. There are some rubberized panels on each side of the ankles which make those areas a bit more firm, but there are no hard plastic protectors in those areas. Overall, I like this boot because it is reasonably sturdy (for a short boot style) and I think they look good. :: Paul, 04-22-12
