Alpinestars Bat Pants

Use the chart below to pick the pant size for you. The pants are sold in European sizes, and Alpinestars tags the pant with their estimate of US waist size, but we find the pants to run small so we’ve listed our estimate of the US waist sizes. Don’t be thrown off by the inseam lengths listed. When comparing these lengths to jeans you buy, keep in mind that sport pants are only designed to go to the ankle bone, so if you normally buy a 32 or 33 inseam in jeans, a 30 or 31” inseam in sport pants will work for you. One neat new feature of these pants is the zipper at the ankle which allows you to open the zipper to accommodate larger calf sizes.

Alpinestars Bat leather pants are a sport style pant designed for the street rider or sport touring rider. The overall construction is very much like race-type leathers, but the pants don’t have Velcro for knee sliders and they offer a more flexible/comfortable armor. These differences, along with the pant’s more sedate styling, are to make you more comfortable wearing the pants for street riding. The knee armor is a unique three layer rubber material which is very flexible and hardly noticeable from the outside of the pants due to its low bulk. Likewise, the pants offer built in hip armor which is comfortable and hardly noticeable, but it feels like it would do a pretty good job in case of a fall. The pants have a full circumference zipper which is compatible with Alpinestars jackets (those that have the mating zipper that is). The zipper comes with the mating half, so it would be possible to adapt a non-Alpinestars jacket to zip to the pants with a trip to your local tailor who could install the mating zipper in the jacket. Clarification: This is the Bat pant introduced in ‘07 which is very similar to the previous model. The notable differences are that this model DOES have hip armor, has a calf size adjustment feature, is offered in tall sizes and it has a small panel of perforated leather on each thigh. Otherwise they are very similar.
