Sizing Information

This product is sold in European sizes. You can choose a European size based upon your US chest size using Alpinestars’ sizing chart. And for those who may have a bit of a belly, we encourage you to consider our estimated max belly sizes listed below. Choose a jacket size that will accommodate both your chest and your belly. Keep in mind that this is a highly fitted jacket, so choosing a size based upon these recommendations will result in a snug fit which should be comfortable while sitting in the riding position, but may be restrictive while standing and walking. Those who don’t like a snug fit should either consider another style or buy one size larger than recommended.

Our Two Cents

Here’s another great jacket from Alpinestars for the serious enthusiast. This jacket would be perfect for anyone who is looking for the ultimate in protection for the street, or a track day rider who wants to put together a good two piece suit. The GP Pro has a full length pants connection zipper for attaching to compatible Alpinestars leather pants, and would definitely be a track worthy jacket. The GP Pro includes substantial CE armor for the shoulders and elbows, as well as foam padding for the back and the chest. This padding can be replaced with the Nucleon inserts (see below) for even more protection. The jacket has snaps which accept either the Bionic Race or Nucleon KR-R back protector with three positions for rider comfort. There is also an aerodynamic speed hump with dual density foam which not only helps reduce buffeting at speed, it also creates a bridge between your back and the back of your helmet in a crash. This helps keep your neck in line if you fall on your back, rather than having your head wrenched forward. Another very nice touch is molded external sliders on the shoulders and elbows. These sliders will help to prevent the jacket from catching on the pavement, which should further help to reduce the chance of injury. Stretch panels are found behind the elbows and shoulders for comfort in the riding position. We found this jacket to have an aggressive, race inspired fit, which feels great while on the bike, but may feel a little stiff when just walking around. The arms are rotated forward and pre-curved for the riding position. As you would expect from Alpinestars, the GP Pro has a top quality feel and the top grain leather is definitely very high quality. We have taken some detailed photos of the GP Pro in our studio here, so be sure to click the “View Larger Images” link above to check them out.

Note on the back armor: This jacket is supplied with a removable foam back pad as standard. Alpinestars offers the optional back protector shown below which goes in place of the foam back protector, but it’s thicker. With the racing hump you may find the combination of the two to be too thick. If you want to try the RC type, feel free, you can return it if it’s too thick for you. You might also consider using a full length stand-alone back protector if you are using the jacket zipped to sport pants. If this is the case, you may want to remove the foam back pad supplied with the jacket to decrease the thickness.
