Sizing Information

We measured a selection of these jackets and we found the chest measurements to match the size of the jacket pretty closely. Being a sport jacket, the fit of these jackets is very snug. You’ll want to choose a jacket size that is just larger than your chest size in order to get the snug race fit. If you are between sizes, I’d recommend the larger.

The belly on these jackets is about 6” less than the jacket size. For example, a size 46 jacket is about 40” maximum around the belly. So when you measure, be sure and measure your belly as well and make sure the jacket you order is big enough in the belly as well as the chest.

One note on the body length…. the cut of any racing jacket is very short in front and then it drops down more in the back to cover your spine. In front, this jacket is about as short as any jacket we sell. On me, it only reaches to a point just above my jeans. A short cut like this is ideal for those who ride in a tuck position because the leather won’t be bunching up on your chest as you are leaned forward, but when standing it feels pretty short.

As an example, the size 46 jacket we used for photos is 19.5” from the base of the collar to the bottom. You might want to compare that to other jackets you may already have to see how it compares.

Our Two Cents

This new Misano perforated leather jacket, make no mistake, is for sport bike riders. The overall cut is trim and short… much like the top half of a two piece race suit. In fact, this jacket comes with a full-around zipper so that you can connect it to AGV Sport leather sport pants.

This style has a couple notable features that make it really stand out. First are the built-in shoulder armor pieces which are a combination of metal, leather and rubber. They are more than cosmetic too. They are situated on the shoulder OVER the removable CE armor pieces that are on the inside of the jacket, so the combination of the two is heavy duty indeed. The rest of the armor package is pretty standard for AGV Sport…. CE armor in the elbows and a foam back pad. You can upgrade the back pad. We have two options listed below. With the speed hump, I’d suggest the Super Lite model since it is thinner and a bit more flexible. Stacking that Pro Lite K under the speed hump would be pretty thick.

But wait, there’s more! This jacket has a modestly sized speed hump on the back too. A speed hump is commonly found on one piece race suits. It does two things…. one is that it creates a “bridge” between your shoulders and your helmet. If you fall on your back, this hump will help to keep the impact from wrenching your helmet/neck forward. The other use is for aerodynamics because it fills a void between your back and the helmet to help smooth the airflow (admittedly could only be a factor at very high speeds).

The torso of this jacket is mostly of perforated material, which means it will flow some air in the summer to make it more tolerable in hot weather. And the jacket comes with a thin, lightly insulated vest type liner you can use when temps go down. Overall, I’d suggest this jacket for cool to warm weather use. Of course any mostly-black jacket will be hot in the summer heat and sun, perfs not withstanding, but they do help extend the rage into warmer temps.

So overall, this is a nicely equipped sport/race jacket. I’d characterize it as “middle of the road” for overall quality, but considering the price, it delivers. Comparable sport jackets from higher end brands like Alpinestars would be about $500ish, so you can see that the price is favorable. :: Paul, 04-04-16
