Sizing Information

We tried the size Medium in this jacket on Huey and we put an XL jacket on Dewey. We found this particular style to fit rather large. This year, we’ve seen that most Speed and Strength jackets are fitting rather relaxed, but this one fits relaxed in the chest like most others in the line AND doesn’t taper much to the waist either.

Of course a denim style like this doesn’t need to fit close to the body to look right, but you do want the armor to be held effectively in place, so I’m advising that you take a chest measurement and choose a jacket from the chart below. For most people, that will mean that you will be buying one size smaller than you normally wear in men’s clothing if you are size large or above, and you will probably choose the size you normally wear if you are Medium or smaller. If you are between sizes and are Medium or Smaller, choose down.

Size Small Medium Large XL 2XL 3XL
Chest 38-40 40-42 42-45 46-48 49-52 53-56
Sleeve 33 34 35 1/2 36 1/2 37 37 1/2

*These jackets don’t taper more than a couple inches from chest to waist, so even if you have a belly, it shouldn’t be a fit problem, but if you have a bigger belly, take a measurement and make sure the size you choose will work. The max belly for any size jacket is about 2” less than the max chest listed above. For example, the size XL will handle up to a max 48” chest and a max 46” belly.

Our Two Cents

This new Band of Brothers jacket is nice! I always like it when I see new riding gear that is different and this one certainly is. I’ve reviewed some other new jackets from Speed and Strength and I’ve really liked their new leather jackets. The leather used is soft and really expensive looking and has an “aged” look to it that really fits the look they are going for. This jacket combines that same leather with a denim shell.

I’d be the first to tell you that denim is not a great material for a jacket for abrasion resistance to protect you if you fall, and this one is no different… it really won’t be as good as an all-leather or an all-textile jacket in that regard. But it looks cool! And it will be comfortable too. The denim will breathe like no other fabric will, so even though this jacket is dark colored, I bet it will be comfortable in even very warm temps. The jacket doesn’t have any sort of climate control features per se, but the body has plenty of room for layering which will look perfectly natural with a denim jacket like this (I’m picturing a hoody underneath?

The jacket includes a set of armor all around… shoulders, elbows and back. The storage is minimal… two smallish hand warmer pockets and two chest pockets with stylish flaps and snaps. And that’s about it folks… but really, let’s face it… the look and the comfort is the selling point here… if the jacket was loaded with nerdy features, you’ll lose all the style and some of the comfort! :: Paul, 03-04-15
