AGV Sport Torino WP Jacket

We tried on the Torino jackets in a size Medium and XL on our Fit Test Mannequins. Both jackets fit well and since there is an effective adjuster at the waist, we were able to tailor the fit easily. Based on the fit on our Fit Test and also my measurements, I’d advise you to buy the size you normally buy in men’s clothing. If you are sometimes between sizes, then I’d advise you to choose the smaller.

Below is AGV’s “official” current size chart for textile and mesh styles. As you can see from the chart below, the chest sizes indicated for each “alpha” size are quite large as compared to “normal” men’s sizing. I don’t think this jacket fits as large as their chart indicates, but I list it only for your reference. The actual “max chest” for any of the sizes is about 2” less than the chart would indicate.

When we did the Fit Check and close up photos on this new Torino WP jacket, I hadn’t seen the pricing yet and I was hoping it was value priced. The jacket itself is a sharp looking style that feels sturdy and has the basics for street riders. It’s not loaded with extra features like some but a lot of riders don’t want all that stuff anyway. And now that I’m writing this review I see the price and WOW, I’m really liking the total value package.

This jacket has a full body waterproof/breathable liner that is permanently situated between the jacket’s outer shell and the inside mesh lining. This type of waterproofing will be the MOST water tight of any type since there are no zippers, snaps, seams through the liner material that would tend to compromise its waterproof capability. But a liner like this is not “vent friendly” and therefore, I recommend this jacket for mild weather to cold weather use. It is a longer jacket too… we call this a “3/4” style in the biz, which provides more coverage on the body which will be welcome in colder and wet temps. The longer tail will overlap with your pants to keep water out of the waist band of your pants… brrrrr! And you can use or not use the removable full sleeve thermal liner. It is a plushy thickness and I think it will do a good job in colder temps. The little tiny button/loops they use to secure the liner in the sleeve ends are hard for my fat fingers to manipulate, but other than that tiny gripe, I think the liner is better than most and you won’t be fiddling with those buttons often anyway.

The jacket has a nice assortment of pockets…. four patch pockets on the outside/front and a big patch pocket in back, and one inside breast pocket (which will be behind the waterproof liner) and another patch pocket inside. One nit to pick is that inside patch pocket can’t be reached with the liner in place and the liner doesn’t have the corresponding pocket… bummer; not a big deal given all the other storage, but a needless design flaw.

As I mentioned above, the jacket has some nice waist adjustment to tailor the fit and you can also snug up the sleeves with the snap adjustments there. The ends of the cuffs have zippers so you can make them a bit bigger and go over a glove cuff or smaller and go under a glove cuff. The ends of each sleeve are a soft neoprene which feels good.

There are a few other little “niceties” to mention… night reflectives are included which give it some visibility to other drivers when it is dark out. We included a couple “night shots” for you so you could see what those look like. Oh, and I like the collar design too… a fleecy material in the inside against your skin and neoprene is rolled over the top edge so it doesn’t rub you under the chin. It’s a long list of likes for me and scant few gripes, and at this price, I declare this one a winner! :: Paul, 06-24-14

Note about the back protector: AGV’s literature says the back protector in this jacket can be upgraded to a Forcefield unit but the shape of the back protector pocket in the jacket is not the same as the Forcefield, or any other back protector upgrade we carry. Oops.
