Our Two Cents

For those of you who know the AGV Horizon helmet the Skyline helmet is going to feel very familiar. The Skyline gets a lot of the same features as the Horizon, but you will not be paying the Horizon price. AGV did a great job at keeping the weight of the helmet down by constructing the shell out of fiberglass and Carbon fiber. This keeps the helmet just under the 4lbs range; it varies a little depending on the size you get. The light weight is a little surprising considering it does have a drop down visor built into the shell, which tends to add some extra weight. The action on the drop down visor is very smooth and does not feel clunky at all. The Skyline has a new quick release for the shield changing system which makes swapping out shields really simple. Speaking of quick release systems, the chin strap also comes with a quick release instead of a Double D ring. One really unique feature to this helmet is how it is designed to accept AGV’s communication systems. In the chin bar there is a spot made specifically for a boom mic. That is going to help keep the mic off your lips and out of your way. On the inside you will also find speaker cutouts that come with a plug to fill the hole when you do not have speakers installed. (Unfortunately these cutouts are not compatible with any comm system other than that made by AGV). The fit of the helmet is slightly narrow and would fit someone whose head is longer back to front and more narrow side to side. :: Aaron, 08-01-14
