Our Two Cents

FirstGear’s Axiom gloves are a “lightly-insulated” and waterproof glove that will be great for those in milder but wet climates. This glove uses insulation that is about 1/2 the thickness of its sister glove, the Tundra. Otherwise the two styles are very similar The back side of the hand is largely textile materials, and there is Aramid material over the knuckles, fingers and part of the wrist. This Aramid is backed by a thin piece of shock absorbing D3O® for some added impact protection. There are quite a few of these patches and they feel somewhat substantial, so this glove should give you a nice secure feeling. These gloves have a generous gauntlet that will easily slip over jacket sleeves and there is a bungee type cord you can use to cinch them down to seal out rain and wind. The leather palms are comfortable and will provide good grip and feel. On the outside heel of the hand, there is another patch of the Aramid/D3O material since this part of the hand is instinctively the first to hit the pavement in case of a spill. Another feature you’ll like is the little rubber wiper thingy on the left thumb which you can use to squeegee down your helmet shield. The insides are lined with a plush material that feels good. These gloves have fantastic nighttime reflectivity. We did a night shot in our photo gallery to give you the idea. If your insulation needs are less than some and you want a nice glove with some protection from impact and wet weather, these are certainly a nice choice. They are fairly priced also, IMHO. :: Paul, 03-05-13

First Gear is doing a running change on these gloves. Running changes cause mixed inventory so you could receive ether the old version or the new. The two main changes are the switch from a Hipora lining to a Hypertex liner, and the removal of the reflective material. We have added photos of the new and old version side by side.
