Sizing Information

Held gloves are sold in glove sizes rather than the normal “alpha” sizes you are used to in the US. But fear not, we offer a comprehensive guide to choosing a Held glove size for you:

Held Glove Sizing

I find Held gloves to be very consistent for fit from one model to the next and these are no exception. Choose the size you wear in Held, or use the sizing advice above to choose.

Held Glove Care

Our Two Cents

The Short Race Glove offers, as the name would imply, race level protection in a short cuff glove (minus the gauntlet of course). Here are the key things I’d consider to be “race features”: Kangaroo leather is used in the palm, soft and flexible for good control feel, yet extremely abrasion resistant in case of a fall. Kangaroo is also known to resist decay from sweat (gross, but yay!). The back of the glove is made with a very soft cowhide, and the interior is reinforced with Kevlar. Also, on the back of the hand there is a vented knuckle protector. In the palm and side of the hand area, there are protectors made of SuperFabric. This material is very tough and slides easily on a hard surface. When you fall, the likely contact point will be in those areas and having something tough and also something that will allow your hands to slide cuts down on the possibility of injury as compared to a glove that might “catch” or “grab” the asphalt upon contact and tend to twist your hand or wrist. And finally, I also see a bridged pinky/ring finger. The finger-bridge helps keep the vulnerable pinky finger in place in a crash by physically connecting it to the more sturdy ring finger.

For comfort Held has constructed these with their step seam – essentially external stitching on the fingers which conforms to the shape of your hand and doesn’t dig in. Combined with the leather used, this feature makes these gloves extremely comfortable. There are also stretch panels at the back of the hand, fingers, and the base of the thumb. A single Velcro closure secures the gloves to your hand, and a visor wiper has been included on the left index finger (a nice addition). These gloves would work well in cool to warm weather. The back of the wrist and between the fingers is perforated, as well as the vented knuckle protector. We have taken several pictures of these gloves in our photo studio, so be sure to click the “View Larger Images” link above to take a look. We sell a LOT of short cuff gloves. Some are very inexpensive and some have more serious protective features. And if you are looking for a more protective and higher end short cuff glove, then you’ve certainly found it! :: Paul, 07-08-14
