Icon OLDOverlord Boots

We found these boots to fit true to the stated size, so choose the size you normally wear in street shoes. I thought the width was “medium” or C/D.

I am liking this new Overlord boot. I always check a few key things on boots just to make sure the boot feels secure enough and has the protective features that it should have for its intended purpose. This is sort of a short race boot style and has toe sliders, so you’d have to assume they are built to a standard that would be suitable for some pretty aggressive riding.

The boots have better than average protective armor in the shin and on either side of the ankle and around the heel. The outside ankle armor and the molded piece around the heel are especially good. The sole has some adequate stiffening in the shank which is good too.

I found the boots to be easy to put on and take off with the “normal” side zipper entry. I’ve seen a lot of highly styled boots like this that have all sorts of tricky buckle/entry arrangements, but they tend to be fussy and/or a hassle to operate, but you really can’t go wrong with the old tried-and-true side zipper setup.

The styling on the boot is very nice. And I always like to see something new and different, and the non-black color choices are certainly that. I think they are sharp. I like the built-in ribs over the toe, functioning as the protection from the shifter…nice! There are a couple panels of a high-tech looking mesh material on the sides of the boot that are indeed functional, and also add to the looks.

I think the price on these boots is quite fair considering the overall level of protection and sharp styling. I also think they’ll be usable and functional on a daily basis (unlike some other styles with such a high style). I really like them! :: Paul, 09-25-14
