TCX X-Rap Waterproof Boots

Please see our TCX Sizing Information page for help in choosing a size. In trying on this boot, I find the fit is just about what I’d expect. It is probably more consistent with a sneaker (such as Nike) than a dress shoe size. Most people find they have to buy about 1/2 size larger in a sneaker than a dress shoe. So when in doubt, I’d recommend you try the larger.

I really like this new X-Rap waterproof boot. Last year I reviewed the X-Street model which is a very similar style, but I panned it a bit because the shoe felt more like a “reinforced” sneaker than a boot made for motorcycling, and also I thought the height of the boot was inconsistent with the claim of being waterproof. But this new version is improved in both those areas. The boot is a bit taller than a high top sneaker and so the waterproof construction would actually work pretty good. The tongue of the boot is attached at about the third eyelet down from the top which makes the foot area waterproof to just above the ankle. The overall “sturdiness” of this boot is better too…. the leather feels thicker and there are good reinforcements under the leather in the toe and heel area. There is also stiffening in the sole where you would bear weight on pegs, which is important. There are some internal ankle protectors on either side of the ankle bone too. I really like the looks of the anthracite with the hi viz laces (just my personal preference). If you are not keen on the bright laces, they include grey laces in the box. I have average thickness feet and when fully laced, the length of the laces comes up a bit short. I couldn’t lace the top eyelet and still tie them, but I don’t like tying them all the way to the top anyway. The padded collar around the top makes these comfortable right out of the box. :: Paul, 12-17-13
