Sizing Information
These boots have the same basic overall fit as other sport race boots in the Sidi line, so if you’ve had fit experience with those, you’ll be fine with the Black Rain boots of the same size.
Visit our Sidi Sizing Information page for complete size conversion info (ladies can use the chart at the bottom of the page). We feel the chart works well to choose a size based upon a US shoe size. We estimate the width of these boots to be “medium” or “D” width.
Our Two Cents
The Black Rain boots are made for sport riders who want/need a boot that is waterproof and suited for everyday street use. The overall “chassis” of this boot…. the side entry, low profile sole, prominent shin protector, etc, has the same look as you see on a lot of boots for racing, so the overall look will appeal to sport riders. And this boot has a built in waterproof/breathable liner that many street riders look for just for the practicalities of everyday use.
These boots have some some basic protection features you’ll find on a lot of street boots like this, such as protectors on each side of the ankle, in front of the shin, a reinforced heel protector piece and a reinforced toe box. That’s quite a bit of protection for a waterproof boot of any kind.
The boots have the traditional side entry for ease of putting them on and taking them off. At the top of the boot there is a large Velcro-close flap that closes over the top of the zipper and it can be positioned to get a fair amount of adjustability for the calf fitment. Boots like these can be worn with pants tucked in, or over the top of the boot. Of course if you plan on needing the waterproof feature, then pants over is the only way to go.
I think the overall serviceability and durability of these boots should be great, especially if you anticipate getting them wet frequently. Nearly all Sidi’s boots are now made of Technomicro which is a brand name of synthetic leather. Most European boot makers love this stuff because of its protection capabilities and serviceability. :: Paul, 4-27-15
