Sizing Information

Most Alpinestars street shoes like this run small, and this one does too. In fact, we think it runs one full size small as compared to a normal street shoe fit. Our best advice would be to order one size bigger than you normally wear in a street shoe. If you are using Nike sneakers as a reference, which also run about a half size small, you can add about 1/2 size to whatever you buy in a Nike shoe.

Our Two Cents

I’m reviewing the Alpinestars Faster Shoe and also the Faster Vented Shoe. So what is different? Well, if you look at the close-up pics of each shoe (take the “View Larger Images link on each product page), you will see they are identical except that the vented version has a large tight-weave mesh panel on the outside of the foot and for the tongue of the shoe that will allow a lot of ventilation. On the “regular” version those panels are made of the same faux leather material (non vented of course) as other parts of the shoe. Also on the vented shoe, other materials appear to be perforated (although the perfs are non-functional). So to choose between the two will depend upon climate and your preference for having an “airy” design or not. So what is similar? Well, both designs are more or less a moto inspired street shoe design. They are both super sporty looking and very sharp, however don’t confuse these shoes with something that will be protective against abrasion or impact in case of a fall off a motorcycle. Alpinestars lists several features as if they’d help in this regard, but when you touch and feel the shoes, you’ll agree with me that they should be used for VERY light motosport use or just for knocking around. The soles are very thin (for styling purposes mostly), there is no solid shank, the toe box is basically just upper material with no reinforcement and the ankle protection is really not substantial enough to be of help in a crash. The area you see where the toe slider would be on a race boot is a thin rubber overlay. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not knocking this shoe, I’m just telling you that it isn’t protective. So buy it for everyday street use and you’ll be happy and stylin’! :: Paul, 04-03-14
