Sizing Information

We find TCX boots to be very consistent in fit from one model to the next. We checked this boot and it too is consistent with other models. To choose a size, please click here to see the TCX size chart. The general width of TCX is “medium” or D to E. To compare to other brands you may have experience with, I’d say the overall fit is somewhere between a Sidi boot which is generally a bit more narrow and an Alpinestars boot which has a more generous width.

Our Two Cents

These new X-Wave WP boots are a continuation of TCX’s line of what I call “sneaker boots”. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not poking fun, in fact, the boots I’m wearing every day are the TCX X-Groove boots and I love them. They are light, comfortable and waterproof. I’ll admit I’m not a motorcycle rider in the rain, so I can’t personally vouch for that aspect of the boot, but they work great in the rain and snow just walking about town.

The X-Wave is virtually identical to the X-Groove minus the side zipper. To each his own I guess… I like the side zipper for the convenience of avoiding the lacing process each day, but many don’t like the side zipper so you are in luck too.

Here are the comments I had on the X-Groove and I still agree with them! _These boots are made of high quality leather and are well padded and lined so they are comfortable right out of the box. There are a couple discs of armor built into the boot on either side of the ankle bone to give some impact protection in that area. These armor discs are well positioned and comfortable to wear.

There is not a lot of motorcycle-specific protection beyond that… the heel is reinforced like any other shoe or boot, but the toe area is not reinforced. TCX does give you a slip-on toe shifter protector thingy to use when on the bike. It just slips over the toe when needed. The ends of the laces aren’t secured, so I’d recommend tying them in such a way as to not leave loose loops like with the normal bow-tie.

These boots are equipped with a waterproof mid-liner so they’ll be good on or off the bike in wet weather._

So if you are in the market for a sneaker-style boot, then TCX has you completely covered with these new X-Wave boots or one of the very similar other styles. :: Paul, 01-04-16
