Our Two Cents

I’ll have to say it has been a LONG time since I saw something from TCX I didn’t like but now that I’ve tried on these new X-Tour Evo Gore-Tex boots, I’ve definitely found one. The boots have these very large armor pieces of the D3O material in the shin, and on either side of the ankles. They are SO LARGE that the boots appear lumpy and with my foot in them, they look like I have the biggest cankles ever. And to make it worse, the boots are put together as a “boot inside a boot” construction which makes them even thicker and less pliable. I’m just guessing that TCX was really trying to get all that protection packed into the boot and had to resort to this extraordinary construction setup to make it work, but for me it doesn’t.

The foot bed fits like other TCX boots I’ve tried so that is good. But even though the top half of the boots have two zippers and a bunch of Velcro adjustment, I really couldn’t wear them because the upper edge in the back is stiff and was just digging into the back of my calf. And the main zipper is on the outside of the boot, and it’s hard to reach and I really couldn’t even zip them up without help from Aaron here in the store.

Ok, I’ll stop bitching… the sum of it is, I can’t recommend this model. :: Paul, 02-08-16 (more about less-than-favorable reviews)
