Sizing Information
We find TCX boots to be very consistent in fit from one model to the next. We checked this boot and it too is consistent with other models. To choose a size, please click here to see the TCX size chart. The general width of TCX is “medium” or D to E. To compare to other brands you may have experience with, I’d say the overall fit is somewhere between a Sidi boot which is generally a bit more narrow and an Alpinestars boot which has a more generous width.
Our Two Cents
I’m an honest to goodness fan of this new X-Groove WP boot. I’ve been looking for a good boot I can wear around the shop and elsewhere that looks good with regular street clothes. I like a high top like this for the protection aspect, but I also like the convenience of a side zip, and this one ticks both boxes!
These boots are made of high quality leather and are well padded and lined so they are comfortable right out of the box. There are a couple discs of armor built into the boot on either side of the ankle bone to give some impact protection in that area. These armor discs are well positioned and comfortable to wear.
There is not a lot of motorcycle-specific protection beyond that… the heel is reinforced like any other shoe or boot, but the toe area is not reinforced. TCX does give you a slip-on toe shifter protector thingy to use when on the bike. It just slips over the toe when needed. The ends of the laces aren’t secured, so I’d recommend tying them in such a way as to not leave loose loops like with the normal bow-tie. You can get creative because you won’t have to untie/re-tie each time you wear them because of the aforementioned easy on-off side zip.
These boots are equipped with a waterproof mid-liner so they’ll be good on or off the bike in wet weather. If you look at the photo gallery, you’ll see that the boot we used for the pictures is a bit broken in… by me in fact. I wasn’t kidding when I say I really like these… I’m keeping this pair! :: Paul, 11-25-15
