Sizing Information

We find that TCX boots are generally an easy fit and they are consistent from one model to the next. And we have very good luck using their size chart to convert from US sizes to their Euro size. Go here to view the TCX Sizing Conversion Chart page for help in choosing a size.

We estimate the width to be about “D” or medium. These are slightly more wide than Sidi boots and fit much like Alpinestars.

Our Two Cents

For 2015 TCX has updated the X-Cube model and the word “Evo” is how they distinguish the new version from the previous version. The overall styling of the boots is much the same as the former version…. they look to me like a high-top basketball shoe and/or wrestling boot that has been beefed up for motorcycle riding. I can’t recall which company came up with the first boot style of this ilk, but since these were introduced, there are now many similar styles available and they remain very popular. The boots have a pretty standard looking foot, so when used under jeans, they don’t look out-of-place and can be worn comfortably on the street.

The X-Cube Evo boots feature a waterproof lining, so they should work well for anyone that might get caught in the rain unexpectedly (a good choice for commuters). This is a lace-up boot, so you can get a good customizable fit through the instep. And the speed lace system works really well as compared to others I’ve seen. One good yank and they become uniformly tight! The closure strap helps to keep your laces out of the way so you don’t get them caught on anything. The heel and toe box areas are reinforced to provide some protection and to help the shoe retain its shape when shifting. There are a couple silver dollar sized armor pieces that will help to protect the inside and outside of your ankles without compromising the comfort of the boot. In this new Evo version, TCX has reconfigured the ankle armor piece on the outside of the foot so it is visible (rather than hidden as on the previous version). It’s more or less a styling thing I guess.

Also new is the “Michelin Urban rubber sole”. Here’s what TCX says about it ”... inspired by PILOT ROAD 3 and PRO GRIP 4 tyre technology, designed to offer excellent grip on all road surfaces and encourage the removal of water in difficult weather”. It certainly feels grippy to me!

Overall, these new X-Cube boots are improved in a couple areas and retain the overall look of the original version, which has proven to be a very popular style in motorcycling. TCX boots are a quality product IMHO, and the price seems very reasonable to me for the feature list and quality level. :: Paul, 01-09-15
