Sizing Information

We find TCX boots to be very consistent in fit from one model to the next. We checked this boot and it too is consistent with other models. To choose a size, please click here to see the TCX size chart. The general width of TCX is “medium” or D to E. To compare to other brands you may have experience with, I’d say the overall fit is somewhere between a Sidi boot which is generally a bit more narrow and an Alpinestars boot which has a more generous width.

Our Two Cents

The Jupiter Evo Gore-Tex boots are a slightly upgraded version of the Jupiter 2 Gore-Tex Boot. Functionally they are very similar styles with similar purpose. One of the important things about both styles is the use of Gore-Tex material for waterproofing as compared to “similar” materials. All are designed to keep water out, but allow moisture from your foot to escape. Gore-Tex material costs more and most believe it works better. A Gore-Tex boot will, on average, cost about $30 to $70 more than one without that brand name moisture barrier. Given the use of Gore-Tex, the price of this boot is very good in my opinion. About the boot itself: This is a hiker style that has become very popular in recent years. Of course you give up some shin protection you’d otherwise find in a more traditional taller style, but many decide that the shorter boot is lighter, cooler to wear and more comfortable when off the bike. The shorter style also eliminates the issue of whether they’ll fit under/over pants. The lacing system on this boot is easy to use and EXTREMELY sturdy. The laces are definitely more than just “normal” laces you find in sneakers. They slide easily in the eyelets making this style easy to put on and take off. The sole is a firmer rubber compound like you’ll find in sport boots. They are also low profile and should work well with sport bike shifters. The sides of the ankles are protected by some nifty built in round plastic armor pieces, and the boots have some reflective materials. Take the “View Larger Images” link above to see some good close-up shots of these boots. We’ve also included the patented “ruler shot” to show you the height inside and out. We sold a lot of the Jupiter 2 and I’m sure we’ll sell a lot of this new EVO style. I would recommend these based on our past success and the new styling/feature upgrades. :: Paul, 03-12-13
