Sizing Information

Alpinestars street shoes generally run a bit small as compared to a standard street shoe size and this one does too. I’m estimating they run much like Nike, which for most folks means you’d choose 1/2 to a full size larger than your street shoe size. If you’ve had experience with Nike, Puma, etc, then choose the size that works for you in those brands.

Overall width feels a bit more narrow than Alpinestars street boots. We find their boots to generally fit like a D to E width, but their shoes like these are more like C or D.

Ladies can subtract 2 sizes from their women’s shoe size, then use the advice we give here. For example, if you wear a size 8 street shoe/9 Nike shoe, then you’d choose the men’s equivalent of a ladies 9 which I’d say was a 7.

Our Two Cents

These new Fastback WP shoes are a step up from some of the sneaker-style footwear I’ve seen from Alpinestars in recent years. Last year, I reviewed models like the Faster, San Diego, Anaheim, etc and found them to be just sneakers more or less, so I couldn’t really recommend them as being protective on a motorcycle, but these Fastback WP shoes are more protective than all those other models. I’d peg them as being somewhere between a plain sneaker and a typical street/touring boot.

These shoes still have a low profile appearance and a thin sole, but it feels stiffer to me and has some rigidity in the shank area as well. They’ll support you when you bear weight on the pegs and should be more comfortable to walk in too.

The upper is made of a combination of man-made suede material and some plastic-rubber protection pieces. There is some over the toe shift area, on the outside of the little toe, and around the heel, which also rises up on either side of the ankle bone. And while there are no harder armor pieces installed, the combination of materials layered up gives the shoes a more sturdy feel. The shaft of the shoe (up around the heel and ankle) is heavily padded which should help them be comfortable right out of the box.

The lacing setup is standard and works well for easy-on and off operation. There is a Velcro-close strap to keep the shoe laces wrangled in and keep them out of the machinery.

The shoes are made waterproof with a waterproof liner between the outer material and inner liner. The tongue is attached to the shoe behind the laces up only to about the ankle bone, so although the shoes are advertised as waterproof, any water coming in over the top or in front will make its way inside. If you need waterproofing while riding, a taller boot would probably suit you better for that purpose.
