Sizing Information

Please see our TCX Sizing Information page for help in choosing a size. The length on these boots is just about right for me (most all TCX boots are), and I’d judge the width to be D or even E in this boot.

Our Two Cents

It’s been right around three years since I first reviewed the waterproof version of this shoe. Back then, I sort of discounted it because it was advertised as waterproof but was a sneaker. But three years have passed and now I see the “vented” version of the same boot. Now I still say that laces on a motorcycle aren’t a great idea in general, and the protection on this shoe is less than you’d find in a more conventional boot for motorcycling, but the sneaker/boots have really caught on and we sell a lot of them (despite my reservations).

So as compared to other sneakers for the bike, I really like the looks of this one. The short pile suede with the perfs is super sharp with the white soles and white laces. A bit of warning though… these sneaks will quickly gain a patina from use on the road (translation, become more grungy), so white soles/laces freaks need not buy. But if you don’t care about that, then they’ll look sharp as pristine and I predict look sharp in a bit more “used” state as well.

As for the venting… it will be great so I have no reservations about recommending these for hot weather use.

And for the overall protection, my comments are the same as with the waterproof version: “The leather used is thick like other motorcycle boots and there are small round impact protectors on either side of the ankle bone, but that is about where it ends. You can see the shoes are lace-up, but there are no provisions for wrangling in those laces so there is a possibility of entanglement. Also, there is no substantial reinforcement in the toe box or heel although there does seem to be some reinforcement in the sole (under where you bear weight on the pegs).”

But gosh, even having said that… there are lots of people who will be OK with the protection issues and for them, it is a great shoe. Actually, I’ll probably be wearing a pair of these around the shop… they’ll have ample protection for that :) Paul :: 05-15-15
