Sizing Information

We tried on a sampling of these shoes and thought the fit was true to the stated size. The width is “normal” or “D”. Take the “View Larger Images” link above to see the height measurements. The lacing system allows for some adjustment in the fit across the instep and ankle which is a nice feature, and the side zipper entry makes them easy to put on and take off.

Our Two Cents

These new Bikes Are In My Blood boots by Speed and Strength are an urban/cruiser style boot, designed to look much like an ordinary street boot. The material used in this boot is a black suede, nubuck, pigskin sort of finish (pick your favorite description), so you can put away the boot polish and pull out the stiff brush to keep these dusted off. The height is sufficient to cover the ankles which is a welcome thing for protection should you fall but there are no armor pieces built into the ankle area like you find in a lot of motorcycle protective boots.

The boots close with ordinary laces. Most of the laces are the ordinary eyelet kind and half the eyelets on the other side (on the inside of the foot) are the “hidden” kind like you find with some motorcycle boots. The “hidden” laces are sort of tucked under the leather of the upper to help hide them from being hung up on any parts of your bike. Hidden laces, along with some sort of cover for the top where you tie the bow can do a pretty good job of helping to prevent entanglements, but this boot with only one fourth of the eyelets hidden and then nothing specific to cover the bow really won’t help in that regard. I can only assume it was done for styling purposes.

The boots do have a side zipper to allow for easy entry and exit. In fact this boot has a zipper on each side, so you can take your pick as to which one to use. I’m a fan of side zipper entry because you can set the main laces and leave them snugged up and tied in the right spot. It gives the convenience of a side zip boot and the looks of an ordinary street boot. Nice.

Overall, a nice sturdy boot with good looks. I wish they’d have covered a few more bases that would qualify the boots as fully protective on a motorcycle…. it would not have taken much more effort/expense. But if you don’t mind those shortcomings, they’ll probably do a good job for you. :: Paul, 08-15-16
