Our Two Cents
These SDS Gas Riding shoes from Sidi are more or less a high top sneaker with just a couple features that are designed for riding. The shoes have a low profile, higher density sole (great for getting over and under a shifter easily), and the Velcro-close strap over the laces is also aimed at motorcyclists to help wrangle in laces to keep them out of moving parts. The shoes are part suede and mesh and should be super airy and comfortable to wear. The neck area of the shoes are highly padded and shouldn’t require any break in. Although the ankle area is padded, there are no internal harder armor pieces for protection. And the toe area of the shoe is without reinforcement, so shifting will soon collapse the toe box. Since the shoes are pretty much void of any protective features, I can’t really recommend them for protection while riding, but if they suit your purposes then great, we’ll be glad to sell you a pair. Use them off the bike and you’ll look sharp. Everybody needs sharp shoes, right? :: Paul, 10-16-13
