Sizing Information

We found these boots to fit true to the stated size, so choose the size you normally wear in street shoes. I thought the width was “medium” or C/D. This is a lace boot so there is great adjustability in the tightness over the instep.

Our Two Cents

The Icon Truant boot is a motorcycle-specific variation on a hiker style boot. The upper offers sharp styling that you’ll feel at home with anywhere, but the boots are beefed up in critical areas for protection and safety on a bike. The lace closure is ordinary, but the laces secure the boot to your foot well so they won’t go flying off in case of a crash. And there is a strap/buckle arrangement you can use to wrangle in the ends of the laces to keep them out of any moving parts. An important thing to have in a boot is a shank reinforcement and these boots have that. When you ride, you’ll be putting weight on the middle of the foot and you need a boot that has enough stiffness to spread that weight out and not just flex under the weight of your body. And this boot also has some pretty substantial reinforcements built in on the sides of each ankle bone, in the toe cap area and heel. But even with all that stiffness, the boots were surprisingly comfortable to wear around. I’m normally not a hiker boot guy because many dig in around the neck of the boot, but these didn’t do that for me. They are well padded and just low enough to let your ankle flex. We’ve taken some shots of the boot close-up so you can see the features and also see the height of the boot and thickness of the sole. These boots are not inexpensive, but in just experiencing the ruggedness and the fact they are a “real” motorcycle boot, I think they are a good choice. I personally like the brown color. :: Paul, 07-08-13
