Sizing Information

These boots are sold in US sizes (and half sizes). The width of the boots is D (which is considered to be a “normal” width.)

Caution: Shoe styles from Alpinestars seem to run slightly snug as compared to “normal” street shoe sizes but their race boots seem to be a bit on the loose side as compared to normal street shoe sizes. If you own Alpinestars race boots and you use the US/Euro conversion chart to choose a US size for the shoes, you’ll likely wind up getting a shoe that is too small. So we recommend you choose these shoes based upon your normal US shoe size and if you are between sizes, go up. If you know your Alpinestar race boot size and use the conversion chart to a US size, choose one full US size bigger in the shoe.

Our Two Cents

Hmm… the Alpinestars blacktop shoes look and feel much like a high-top tennis shoe or hiking boot. There really isn’t anything about these that tells me it’s a motorcycle specific boot, other than the extra material for the shifter, so I’d consider these to be nothing more than casual footwear. The Blacktop shoes do have some perforations and mesh areas and should do a good job keeping your feet cool. The sole is very flexible (again, like a tennis shoe), and has a smooth tread pattern that won’t catch on pegs. These shoes would be very comfortable to walk in all day. They lace up just like a regular shoe, with no Velcro straps to retain the laces, so if you plan on riding with these, just be sure to tuck those laces in. Foot pegs and shoelaces don’t mix (don’t ask me how I know!). Alpinestars lists “medial ankle cups” as a feature of these. The ankle does feel well padded, but there is no molded internal protection as far as I can tell. Overall I would recommend these to the casual rider or commuter who needs a shoe that doesn’t necessarily look like a motorcycle boot. They will also be great if you are going to be doing a lot of walking around in your riding footwear, or if you just want some Alpinestars shoes.
