Sizing Information

The sizing of TCX boots remains consistent, and we feel the length conversion is consistent with TCX’s published size conversion chart. The general width would be “normal” which is D or possibly E. To compare, I’d say the overall fit is somewhere between a Sidi boot which is generally pretty trim and an Alpinestars boot which runs more wide. Please click here to see the TCX size chart.

Our Two Cents

This boot, the S-Sportour Evo Air Boot, is the vented version of the S-Sportour Evo line for 2015. The two other versions are the “standard” (non vented) and there is also a “WP” waterproof version. This vented version is like the standard version but this boot uses perforated microfiber material which allows the free flow of air into the boot. A perforated boot like this is great for hot to mild weather use. Otherwise, this boot is identical in construction to the standard boot and so I’ll copy my review of the standard boot here to highlight a few of the design features:

This is a “new and improved” version of the S-Sportour from a couple years ago. They’ve added the word “Evo” to the name which denotes the newer design. I liked the earlier version and I like this one as well. There are a few subtle differences I can point to but actually the versions are more similar than different in design.

The upper of this Evo version is made of a man-made leather (which is almost universal in this business) because this material wears well and is very abrasion resistant. This version uses a slightly different style of material… this one has a more smooth “matte” finish to it where the prior version had more of a shiny finish with a simulated leather grain “potato/potahto, right?).

Like any quality sport/race boot, this one has very substantial protectors at the heel, shin and over the ankle bones. The interior construction is very plushy and is made of Air Tech which is almost universally used in boots like this nowadays. The look and feel reminds me of the material common in helmet linings. It should be comfortable and long wearing. Like other sport boots, the sole is low profile, but sturdy, and has a stiffener in the arch.

This S-Sportour Evo is a standard street boot which is not waterproof. If you need a boot that will handle wet weather from time to time, please see the WP version of this boot which includes a waterproof lining (between the shell and the inner lining) to make it waterproof.

TCX, as a brand, is high quality and should provide great service. In my opinion, the boots are on par with the leading brands for race boots such as Sidi and Alpinestars. I really do like these new versions for 2015. :: Paul, 01-12-15
