Sizing Information

These boots have the same basic overall fit as other sport race boots in the Sidi line, so if you’ve had fit experience with those, you’ll be fine with the Roarr boots of the same size. The calf adjustment capability on these boots is very effective and has a WIDE adjustment range, so if you have bigger-than-average or smaller-than-average calves, this is your boot!

Visit our Sidi Sizing Information page for complete size conversion info (ladies can use the chart at the bottom of the page). We feel the chart works well to choose a size based upon a US shoe size. We estimate the width of these boots to be “medium” or “D” width.

Our Two Cents

Sidi’s Roarr boot grabs some technology from their full-on race boots, but dials down the complexity a bit. Years ago, Sidi came out with a Vertebra boot which was one of the first/few to incorporate hard plastic parts on the outside of the ankle to help resist over-flexing of the ankle side to side, but the parts would flex to allow for shifting and walking. It was a great system, and now it’s back again! But in addition to the Vertebra (the parts you see on the side and back of the boot), there is another brace on the outside of the foot that connects to the Vertebra system and a very substantial solid piece on the back of the calf. This connection gives even more protection. This new setup is like the old Vertebra on steroids!

One great feature I’m seeing on most late model Sidi boots is the adjustable calf arrangement. The diameter of the boot above the ankle is quickly and easily adjustable with Sidi’s Techno 3 system. It consists of a small “aircraft” wire that connects the solid piece on the back of the calf to the front part and there is a small ratchet mechanism to tighten or loosen the wire to get just the right fit. It is really easy to use and effective. You can adjust the boot depending upon what pants you are wearing (if tucked in), etc. But largely, it is a “set it and forget it” type arrangement.

Entry to the boot is easy with a side zipper like many other boots. And ease of entry is one of the things that sets this boot apart from some of Sidi’s more elaborate race boots. Some of their boots require adjusting closures and such each time you put the boots on, but these go on and off fast with no fuss. The closure on the side is the typical single zipper.

Another new feature I see on this boot is the side vent. It looks to be a “variable” vent of sorts. It can be fully closed or fully open, or you can leave it part way open. It’s kind of neat looking too. A vent on a solid material boot like this will be nice to have on hot days. The new vent style is clever, but just the idea of having a vent is the important thing.

I would recommend these boots for people doing anything from aggressive street riding to amateur racing, and I think they’d be an especially nice option for people who wanted to use them on the street because of the convenience and ease of use I mentioned. Overall, I think these boots have a nice blend of race protection, convenience and ease of use. :: Paul, 04-23-15
