Sizing Information

We tried a size Medium and an XL on our Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey. Those are sizes they usually wear in an “American” cut jacket. This jacket from REV’IT! fit very well. I also verified some chest and belly measurements and found those to also be in line with what you’d normally find in American men’s clothing. So, we recommend you buy the size you normally wear in US men’s clothing.

When we first started carrying REV’IT! gear a few seasons ago, most styles fit very snug and their standard sizing charts reflected this, but as we check out newer styles, they are changing the fit so it more closely conforms to an “American” fit. Unfortunately REV’IT! hasn’t changed their standard sizing chart to reflect their new sizing standard.

Anyway, below is a chart we put together that shows the REV’IT!-published chest sizes for each jacket’s alpha size (as mentioned, not accurate for this model) along with our estimate of actual max chest and max waist/belly. This particular style doesn’t taper a whole lot from chest to waist… only about 2”, so most people won’t have to worry about whether the belly area will work for them, but for those who do have an ample belly, we list the max size for each alpha size so you can make sure the size you choose will work.

Our Two Cents

This is a fall/winter/spring style and is totally appropriate for wet weather in any of those seasons. It is fitted with a fixed rain liner to keep you dry and a removable thermal liner with full sleeves you can use when the weather is colder. LOTS of touring jackets offer the “fixed” rain liner setup. The liner is permanently installed between the jacket’s outer shell and the inside lining. And this type of rain protection will give you the very best chance at keeping water out because there are no paths for entrance such as zippers, snaps, stitching, etc through the liner. The flip side is that, although the jacket has some zippered venting on the front and back, the rain liner won’t allow the air flow to pass through completely to your skin. For that reason, I recommend this jacket for cold to warm weather, but it won’t be comfortable in hot weather. If you need a jacket that will work farther into the hot months, you can up the ante for a jacket with a removable rain liner and more extensive venting. But really, you could probably buy yourself a good mesh jacket for about the same money and be totally comfortable in really hot weather as well (just MHO).

For storage, there are two large pockets in front and one inside breast pocket (there is an opening in the thermal liner so you can reach the inside pocket with the liner installed). The jacket comes with a full set of very nice shoulder and elbow armor. The back pad pocket is there and you can choose a SeeSoft back protector as an option (see below). Overall, I really like this style and I like the way it fits and looks. I have sort of a short neck and although the collar is soft and fleecy, it is a bit tall for me, but for those that ride in cold or wet conditions, you probably look for a collar like this. Anyway, that is just a personal nit pick. So if your riding conditions are a match for this jacket’s construction, you’ll certainly like it and you’ll enjoy the quality that REV’IT! puts into its products. :: Paul, 03-27-14
