Sizing Information

We have a size XL on our Fit Check Mannequin Dewey and it fits just fine. He wears an XL in men’s clothing and has about a 45” chest. The upper chest on a vest like this isn’t critical for fit and of course can’t really be measured, but this vest has some good adjustment on the lower torso (aka: belly). On the XL I measured a max belly of about 42”, which is consistent with an XL assuming the belly waist of a jacket is typically about 6” less than the chest, and an XL is typically a 46” chest. The adjustment straps will allow you to snug up the lower torso by a few inches.

In summary, unless you have a pretty big belly, you should be fine when you pick the size you normally wear in men’s clothing.

Our Two Cents

Ok, to review the Live By The Sword Armored Vest, I’m going to tell you what I think it is, and what it’s not…

This vest is a “tough guy”, futuristic looking vest made of a variety of materials… fabric, carbon-look vinyl with some accessory adjustment straps. Functionally the back protector is substantial, but not better than what you’d find as a standard offering in most protective jackets. From what I see in Speed and Strength’s advertising, people wear these over a tee shirt for the looks primarily. Take the “View Larger Images” link above to see some good close-ups we took for you. You’ll have enough detail to see the materials used very well.

Here is what it is not… this is not a garment that will provide decent protection for your upper body (alone) because it has nothing to protect your arms and shoulders. And it is not a good choice for a back protector to be worn under a jacket or a suit. For this purpose it is too bulky and isn’t really a higher protective level back protector that people want for racing, etc. For that purpose we have lots of other better choices.
