Sizing Information

Well, we had to rely upon verbal fit advice from our Alpinestars rep on this one. Alpinestar’s website (as of this writing) offers a size chart normally used for the B2 Carbon knee braces (a product sold primarily for off-road use). He tells us that chart is not correct. Here is his advice: The Med/Large size selection will fit 90% of adults. It is a one-size-fits-all design. The XS/Small would be for adults or youth that were 5’3” or below and under approximately 110 pounds.

Our Two Cents

I’ll have to say, these Bionic SX knee guards are pretty impressive. When you look at the “straight on” picture (take the “View Larger Images” link above to see the gallery), you can see the entire guard is anatomically shaped for the human knee, and the guards are left/right specific (thankfully they are labelled… ha). We sell these guards for riders who want to add impact protection under non-armored street clothes. The nice thing about these guards is how they hug your knee regardless of the degree to which your knee is bent. And they are compact, yet provide a lot of coverage and seem secure. I like the three strap arrangement. The top two straps are permanent but the bottom strap can be removed in case you are tucking the armor inside taller boots. The low-profile and body hugging shape of these guards would be one of the few designs I’ve seen that might work well tucked inside higher race boots, etc. The last positive observation I made is that these guards work on your moving body without any hinge points which is a good thing because they won’t begin squeaking.
