FirstGear Temperfoam Back Pad

Updated Sept 1, 2011: We have discontinued sales of this product for the foreseeable future. Recently, Firstgear changed the design of this product. The re-designed product is thinner and lighter than the previous design. In our judgement, this back protector can no longer be considered an “upgrade”. To add to the confusion, FirstGear has changed the shape of the back protector being installed in new manufacturing runs of current jacket designs. The change in shape is being handled as a “running change”, meaning the change is implemented in the middle of the product’s life cycle. This means there will be no way to say whether a new jacket will have the shape you see here or the revised shape. This situation will exist for years until ALL stock with the previous version of back protector cycle through the pipeline. In the future, when all Firstgear jackets being sold are of the new shape AND if the “upgraded” back protector is substantially more robust than the stock back protector, we will add them back to our product offering.

Love this jacket. Works great in cold weather with the liner, and in warm weather with the liner removed and vents open. After getting caught in a rainstorm, it also kept me dry. (Read more...)
