Nelson Rigg’s “Spirit” luggage is constructed of a lightweight, rigid EVA molded foam. The Spirit 40 saddlebags are a great choice for riders who want the most compact, lightweight saddlebags on the market. What these saddlebags do not have is the dual mounting feature that you find on other Nelson Rigg saddlebags that are not part of the Spirit line. With the quick release mounting system and adjustable cross straps, these saddlebags are easy to use and can be mounted on almost any motorcycle. The EVA molded foam used in the Spirit line is awesome for several reasons but there is a drawback to this material. When heat gets to EVA foam it can warp or distort the shape. We can’t even say with certainty that the Nelson Rigg heat shields for saddlebags will block enough heat to protect the material. For motorcycles with high mount or undertail exhausts, we recommend Nelson Rigg saddlebags with heat shields that are not part of the Spirit line. As mentioned above these saddlebags are small, we were able to fit the contents of the commuter package or the day ride package with a small amount of room left in each bag.
